The Center City wine and whiskey spot takes the chill off with an original bourbon-based concoction called The Griswald. Chai tea is mixed with half and half, Jim Beam, and Cointreau, and garnished with anise, cinnamon, and a dollop of whipped cream. Cooperage general manager Glenn Ellis says The Griswald is a unique twist on eggnog: “The chai tea blends well with the whiskey, giving it a sweet and crisp bite, and anise star adds a great aroma.” 123 S. No need to order the ricotta doughnuts at South Philly favorite Kris. A new seasonal libation called the Nutella-Mallow Hot Cocoa is practically dessert in a glass. The decadent chocolate spread is melted down with milk and cocoa powder over low heat and then blended with Frangelico, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, and Jim Beam. Pennsylvania Dutch gingersnaps were the inspiration behind 10 Arts’s fragrant spiked cider. “When we create our seasonal drinks, we look to the region for inspiration—the history, people, and neighborhoods that define the greater Philadelphia area,” says Miguel Hernandez, assistant director of food and beverage. Apple cider, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom pods, and lemon juice are combined with the gingersnap-flavored liqueur Snap and served with dunk-ready biscotti or holiday cookies. General manager David Becker’s original cocktail, the appropriately named Mexican Haute Chocolate Bomb, is nothing short of a conversation starter. The cocktail packs plenty of heat thanks to chocolate chili liqueur, habanero-infused tequila, and chipotle-laced chocolate, but it comes to life—literally—when a liquid-nitrogen-cooled chocolate-chili truffle soaked in spirits is dropped into the drink upon serving. 818 W. Afternoon tea takes on a whole new meaning at the Four Seasons. The mixologists at the Swann Lounge are warming up guests with Morrey’s Tea, a cocktail made from Earl Grey tea, Bluecoat American Dry gin, bitters, and a Lancaster honey.
