Sarah Silverman Stops in AC on Standup Tour

Philadelphia Style’s Q&A with the no-boundaries comedy queen.

July 05, 2012

Funnygirl Sarah Silverman, in town on Saturday, July 7 (9 PM) for a standup act at The Circus Maximus Theater at Caesars, shares her favorite boardwalk memories and Philly exports.

Your upcoming performance at Caesars will be bringing you to Atlantic City soon. What is your opinion of the city? What do you like best about it? What do you do to unwind?
SARAH SILVERMAN: The first time I went to Atlantic City, I went to go see Dave Attell when I was 19. We did mushrooms afterwards. Dave put one nickel in the slot machine and won immediately. The sun came out and we played hacky sack with strangers on the boardwalk.

What projects do you have in the works?
SS: Wreck it Ralph—an awesome Disney movie I did with John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch, and Jack McBrayer that comes out on November 2. It's so funny and cute. My heart can barely take it.

You’re a writer, actress, singer, musician—at Caesars, you’ll be doing standup comedy. Tell us what it feels like to be a comic.
SS: I love it. I feel like I'm always in a state of process, a work in progress, but that's the live experience. I never feel like anything is done being honed. But I like it that way. Beware: This is not a flashy show! It's me and a mic. Kyle Dunnigan will be opening—he's BRILLIANT.

What do you like about Philadelphia?
SS: The comics that come from there! Todd Glass and Paul F. Tompkins, anyone?!
