New Beginnings

AS I WRITE this note, my last letter as editor-in-chief of Philadelphia Style, I’m filled with gratitude and pride. I’ve spent more than five years at the helm of this magazine, and am so proud of the compelling features, gorgeous photo spreads and of-the-moment trend reports the Style team assembled during my tenure here. Kudos to the talented writers, editors, creative directors, photographers and interns who helped bring such a vibrant magazine to life.

The magazine has become both a source of pleasure and a font of insider information for savvy Philadelphians: Beauty junkies and spagoers devour our sneak peeks of new products and treatments; foodies rely on our dining reviews to guide them to the latest culinary hot spots; and fashion mavens seek out our publication to get the dish on the latest looks from the globe’s top sartorialists.

In passing the baton to new editor Kristin Detterline-Munro, I’m excited to see her journalistic skills, sense of style and expert knowledge of the area push Style to new heights.

Thanks for the memories, Philadelphia! From my new post as publisher of Capitol File in Washington, D.C., I’ll think of my time in the City of Brotherly Love often and with fondness.

All my best,

SARAH SCHAFFER

Philly Favorite
Three Things I'll Always Love About the City

THE DINING SCENE

From Lolita to Ristorante Panorama to Zahav, I’m going to miss Philadelphia’s stellar collection of restaurants and cafes.

HISTORY AT EVERY TURN

Every day on my stroll to the office I walked past the city’s leafy cemeteries, colonial buildings and storied landmarks. On a crisp fall morning the trip was pure pleasure.

STYLE (OF COURSE)
Philadelphians know how to dress with personality. From South Philly to the Main Line, so many locals have made an art out of dressing distinctively, from street-chic looks to over-the-top prepster outfits.
