Jefferson’s Kimmel Cancer Center hosted a tribute to Steve Sabol in June at the Union League of Philadelphia. Sabol, president of NFL Films, was presented with the Spirit of Courage Award, an award for demonstrating personal courage in the fight against cancer and supporting others facing a similar struggle. Sydney and Caroline Kimmel were in attendance along with Jerry Blavat and Dick Vermeil. Sabol’s nearly two-year battle against the disease ended in September. Sabol was 69.
