This is the time of year to give thanks and share celebratory times with our family and friends. As we close 2008, there’s a lot to be thankful for at Philadelphia Style. The magazine saw a tremendous positive response after the relaunch in May; specifically, we’ve received countless kudos from readers and advertisers since altering formats under Niche Media earlier in the year.

Of course, the magazine is not the only thing that has undergone recent change. You would be hard pressed to look around the city and not notice the metamorphosis taking shape all around us. The progression and growth is rapid as the city reinvents itself once again. It’s no secret that Philadelphia’s acclaimed dining scene has gained national attention, making the city a must-visit destination for foodies far and wide. The success has never tasted so good and the recent openings across town have only continued the trend.

Meanwhile, around the Square and across Center City, impressive new condominiums, hotels and other real estate projects are shifting our landscape right before our eyes. It’s exciting to stroll around downtown on an early afternoon and take in the atmosphere. No matter which direction you head, there is something terrific happening around every corner.

Since this is our Luxury Issue, it’s only fitting that we highlight the best that this great city has to offer, especially because not long ago, Philadelphia was an afterthought when it came to luxe living. Money, access and power were reserved for places with flash like Los Angeles or the hustle and bustle of New York City. Today, the tide has changed. Whether it’s Walnut Street or the Main Line, the city is still experiencing tremendous growth and we are here to chart it all.

In a city that birthed independence, we recognize that we don’t have to play second fiddle to anyone else. And tastemakers and well-heeled residents aren’t the only ones who can indulge in this newfound glory. As rich as this city is in history and as bright as the future looks, it’s easy to see that we are all living comfortably in the lap of luxury.
