Resolution Solution

I’ve had the same New Year’s resolution for most of my adult life: I desperately want to be a better gift giver. By that, I mean wowing my family and friends with thoughtful, interesting presents handpicked just for them after countless brainstorming sessions and more than a little in-store research. But despite my good intentions, I always seem to wait until the second week in December to start shopping, and then hurriedly grab gifts in an effort to whittle down my list as the clock ticks down to Christmas. The resolution is always an effect of my guilt, still fresh only one week later.

This year promises to be different for me, in no small part thanks to our annual Holiday Gift Guide. With so many luxe goods to choose from—elegant tableware, fashionable baubles, striking accessories—it will be hard to pick just a few that get a gift tag. We’re also spotlighting festive trends like chic seasonal centerpieces and high-drama makeup hues—perfect for all of those holiday parties—in our Manor and Liberties sections. And let’s not forget some of our other amazing features, including interviews with the Sixers’ Evan Turner and All My Children star Stephanie Gatschet.

I hope this issue is a useful shopping resource for you and, more importantly, offers a reason to steal away for a few moments and relish some much-needed downtime.
