Right at Home
I GREW UP IN SOUTH JERSEY but some of my most cherished childhood memories took place in Philadelphia. Like the first time I saw a musical at the Walnut Street Theatre (Cats, in case you’re wondering), going to Wanamaker’s each December to watch the Christmas Light Show or spending Saturday nights at my family’s favorite Italian restaurant in South Philly.
I’m happy to say that not much has changed since I was a kid in elementary school. I still look forward to shows at the city’s many theaters and visiting new restaurants along East Passyunk Avenue. And right after Thanksgiving, I always duck into Macy’s (formerly Wanamaker’s) to marvel at the thousands of twinkling lights that illuminate that grand hall during the holidays.
After living in Philadelphia for the past several years and, more importantly, writing about the city’s cultural and lifestyle happenings at regional publications for just as long, it’s those special moments that have helped to make the City of Brotherly Love truly feel like home to me.
I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of editor in chief at Philadelphia Style, where I have worked for more than a year as deputy editor. I’m equally as excited to share with you our Men’s Issue featuring Philly native and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator and star Rob McElhenney. There are also plenty of men’s fashions and accessories to obsess over, from automobile-inspired timepieces and on-trend outerwear to luxe totes and the latest eyewear.
I look forward to bringing you more exciting cover stars, of-the-moment fashions, incredible homes and all the dish on the latest restaurants, and hope that what you’ll find in the pages within and many issues to come will inspire a few Philadelphia traditions of your own.
