Forging Ahead

Once the bathing suits are stashed away and the dress shoes dusted off, the transition from summer to fall is complete—it is officially gala season. This October we have the Friends of the American Cancer Society’s Party with a Purpose on October 16 to look forward to, as well as PAFA’s Party on the Plaza on October 1 to celebrate the completion of the brand new Lenfest Plaza. Besides the floor-length gowns and crisp tuxedos that appear at charity events and special receptions, Philadelphia goes into full fashion swing with The Philadelphia Collection, a 10-day-long festival which runs September 14 to 24. In that runway spirit, we have chosen one of America’s most celebrated fashion icons, Nicole Miller, to grace our Fall Fashion cover.

This issue has two special additions: our Bridal section, which gives the lowdown on what local planners, designers and caterers have up their sleeves for fall weddings, and the Real Estate Report, which reveals some of the cutting-edge projects on the horizon. Don’t miss our party pages this issue, packed with highly anticipated photos from our Best of Style party. These photos are proof of the great success of this event—and all the credit goes to our readers and clients who make this the premier luxury magazine in the region. We at Philadelphia Style can’t thank you enough. We decided on all-white attire, and every single attendee (there were more than 1,500 there!) looked fantastic. The food, drinks and entertainment were top-notch, and there has been no end to the compliments about how amazing the party was—quite possibly our best ever. This fall we’ll be out and about as always, so I hope to see you at the next black-tie gala.
