Butterfly Ball In October, the world is awash in pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. No event raises funds more glamorously than Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Buttery Ball. As the Bala Cynwyd-based organization’s biggest annual fundraiser, the black-tie Buttery Ball is a luxe gala where 650-plus attendees mix and mingle and enjoy fine dining with the Philly skyline and City Hall as the backdrop. is year’s Founders Award will be presented to notable pharmaceutical entrepreneur Gerianne DiPiano. Unite For HER Harvest Chef and Wine Tasting Event Also in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, advocates like renowned Main Line surgeon Jennifer Simmons head to Phoenixville as Unite for HER turns the Phoenixville Foundry into a rustic-chic fete for its seventh annual chef and wine tasting event. Local and sustainable dishes from top restaurants will be paired with special offerings from wineries, breweries and spirits vendors—plus a live auction, silent auction items, live music, and a wine grab. Simon’s Heart’s Second Annual Friendraiser On the heels of October’s Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month is Simon’s Heart’s Second Annual Friendraiser. The Plymouth Meeting-based organization dedicated to raising national awareness about and preventing sudden cardiac arrest in children is hosting this annual fundraising event at chef-owners Jennifer Carroll and Billy Riddle’s hot new Spice Finch in the Warwick Hotel (last year’s event was held at Endeavor and featured a heartfelt talk by Mike Quick, Chris erien and Michael Barkann). Guests can shop at the on-site pop-up Heart Boutique filled with heart-themed jewelry and accessories that will benet the organization, and the Spice Finch team will be on hand with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Helpusadopt.org Annual Benefit and Auction Celebrating National Adoption Month in November is helpusadopt.org’s Faces of Adoption event. Main Line native Becky Fawcett’s helpusadopt.org has been on the front lines of helping couples and individuals with the cost of their adoptions—regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, marital status or sexual orientation—by awarding grants up to $15,000. Bringing awareness in advance, the annual cocktail party at Villanova’s Overbrook Golf Club is one of its biggest fundraising events of the year, replete with a live silent auction, cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and food stations. is year’s Voice of Adoption Award will be presented to award-winning broadcast news journalist Kerstin Lindquist, who’s also a host at QVC and author of 5 Months Apart: A Story of Infertility, Faith and Grace.
