From Barre to boxing, Philly has been in the midst of a boutique fitness boom the last few years. And while major players like SoulCycle, Rumble, Solidcore and Orangetheory Fitness have opened studios in the 215, one name has been noticeably absent—until now. Barry’s Bootcamp, the godfather of boutique fitness concepts with more than 60 locations around the world and famed for its high-intensity training, now has a Center City outpost. “We’ve always loved the energy and passion of Philadelphia, and we had been hearing more and more from fans that there was demand for a local studio,” says Joey Gonzalez, CEO at Barry’s Bootcamp. “When we found the location at 1911 Sansom St., we knew we had found our spot!” That “spot” is now home to the Red Room workout studio, and the Fuel Bar for postsession smoothies and must-have merch from Nike, lululemon and Barry’s FIT. Amenities aside, the Barry’s burn is real. Says Gonzalez, “[During the] hourlong class, participants can burn up to 1,000 calories—and people keep burning calories after class is over.” You’ve earned that matcha smoothie. 1911 Sansom St., barrysbootcamp.com
