Jet Wine Bar Opens Garden For an Outdoor Drinking Oasis

By Carissa Dunlap | September 11, 2019 | Food & Drink

With just the pop of the cork and a generous pour, wine lovers finally have a reason to abandon Philadelphia’s many beer gardens to sip and swirl alongside fellow oenophiles. Enter Jet Wine Garden, a first-of-its-kind pop-up in the city. “Philly loves gardens—and outdoor drinking! We saw how well all of the beer gardens have been doing, and we wanted to offer a new and different option—with excellent wine selections,” says Jill Weber, co-owner of Jet Wine Bar. This led her to open the new space along with her team members at Sojourn Philly, the hospitality group behind Rex 1516 and Café Ynez. Open through October, the 2,400-square-foot wine oasis nestled next to the restaurant seats up to 40 guests at farmhouse-style tables, a handcrafted wooden bar and beneath two gazebos adorned with strings of glimmering lights. Aside from the standard drink menu at the adjoining restaurant, guests can enjoy a variety of specialty glasses like grenache rosé from La Tour de Gâtigne in France, sauvignon blanc from Brisa Vistamar in Chile and cinsault from Myburgh Bros. in South Africa. There are even wine-inspired cocktails like rosé aperol spritzes and refreshing strawberry rosé wine pops. Expect new fare to the bar-style menu this month as well, featuring Georgia-style barbecue with plenty of suggestions for which bottle pairs best with brisket. 1525 South St., 215.735.1116,
