In Italian, Tesoro means treasure. And that’s exactly what Brit Reed thought about when naming her boho-chic brand in 2013. “You carry all of your treasures with you in your handbag,” the designer says, whose beautifully crafted leather crossbodies, handbags, fanny packs and totes—all designed by her— fill her South Philly shop. The 28-year-old credits her passion for leather goods to the time that she spent living above the leather market in Florence, Italy, for a program at FIT. Created for women on the move, each bag—only 30 or less are made of each design—is handcrafted with functionality in mind. She even employs sustainable, eco-friendly materials, avoiding traditional chemical-dyed leathers. Reed says, “I really want to create things that can take women wherever they need to go.” 1533 South St., 267.273.0541, tesoro.design
Limitless Looks
All of the Tesoro handbags have different features and functions. Look to the Nora ($595) for the perfect day bag—the wings pop in and out for an edgier look—and a detachable pouch for evenings.
Vegan Artistry
Stop in for Reed’s rst-ever vegan spring/ summer 2019 line, comprised of three tote bag sizes crafted from a sturdy canvas material. A larger duffel bag will make its debut in late summer.
Learning Leather
Mark your calendar for May 23, when Reed hosts a makers class with Skin Haus, a facial bar and skincare destination. You can also learn how to design your own leather bracelet or choker.
