On May 12, 2018, Temple University Hospital hosted the 65th annual Acres of Diamonds Gala at the Downtown Marriott Philadelphia. The event raised $1.4 million to support Temple University Hospital and the patients it serves. Dr. Larry R. Kaiser, President and CEO of Temple University Health System, greeted guests as they arrived for the cocktail hour, where they enjoyed imbibes and lite bites while perusing silent auction items. Guests also enjoyed a sit down dinner in the elegant ballroom. Philadelphia Fylers favorite, Lauren Hart, served as the evenings emcee. Auctioneer Jeff Hammond raised over $300,000 in a special appeal live auction benefiting Temple's transplant programs. Five-time Grammy Award winner, Michael McDonald, ended the evening with an unforgettable performance after Robert H. Lux received the Diamond Award.
