The lunar new year is right around the corner, and lots of luxury brands are getting in the spirit.
Tuesday, Feb. 1, marks the start of the Year of the Tiger. Celebrated and marked by practitioners in China, Vietnam, South Korea, Indonesia and other Asian countries, the Year of the Tiger is a season of courage, strength and revolutionary ideas, and the fine folks at Alexander Wang want you to luxuriate in those feelings with a smart and sporty look from the designer’s special Year of the Tiger capsule collection.
As a nod to the famous Chinese fabric, Alexander Wang’s collection is made from fine silk and fashioned with meticulously-embroidered images of roaring tigers in traditional Chinese styles.
Sleek and comfortable shirts, shorts and robes with tiger-stripe details look particularly divine, both outfitted with the tiger motif. The collection also features a denim jacket and pants that have been dyed and re-dyed to create a cool and fashionable tiger-stripe print.
Looking to add a bit of fun to your wardrobe? Alexander Wang’s signature “Beiress” wristlet makes an appearance in this collection. No doubt you’ll the tiger-striped bear figure, with its zippable pouch for personal effects, will add a new layer of playfulness to your night on the town.
The Year of the Tiger capsule collection was captured by a cool campaign by Chinese photographer Theo Liu, with hair by Isaac Yu and makeup by Shanghai’s Yooyo Keong Ming. Models pose elegantly and with plenty of tiger attitude, bringing out the punk undertones of the high-end collection.
Alexander Wang isn’t the only major fashion house to celebrate the “Year of the Tiger.” Gucci, Prada, Balenciaga and many more have gotten in on the season, offering high-end looks, accessories and more, so you can wear the spirit of the tiger on your sleeve all year long.
Pieces in the collection range from $375 to $995, and are available now on the brand’s website. See more images from the official “Year of the Tiger” capsule collection campaign below, and visit alexanderwang.com to learn more and shop the looks.
