Pilot and influencer Andrew DaCosta gives the scoop on his favorite destinations around the globe.
Afascination with flying took off at a young age for local airline captain and influencer Andrew DaCosta (@pilot.drew), who chronicles his travel adventures on Instagram. “Growing up, my dad often took my brothers and me to the Philadelphia airport to watch airplanes fly overhead,” he says. “As long as I remember, I would draw airplanes and learn everything I could about them.” It comes as no surprise that his obsession with aircrafts swiftly turned into a career where flying large commercial jets for a major airline is just another day at the office. Here, he highlights some of his favorite places in the world to inspire some serious wanderlust.
Zermatt, Switzerland Nestled in the Swiss Alps, Zermatt is a quiet little town with some of the most stunning views. We visited in December and got to enjoy traditional Swiss dishes like meat and cheese fondue. Hiking and experiencing the long gondola rides to the top and getting a 360 view of the Alps was one of the coolest experiences.
Algarve, Portugal Located in Southern Portugal, the cliffs clashing with the beaches make this an ideal spot for anyone. Amazing seafood, nightlife, beaches and views make Algarve one of my favorite places.
Seville, Spain This town in Southern Spain had some of the best tapas I’ve ever had—such a walkable town with beautiful architecture around every corner.
Holbox, Mexico Off the beaten path from your traditional Mexico vacation, Holbox is the perfect destination for an authentic experience. No cars are allowed on the island, so you travel by dune buggy, taxi or rent a bike. This is a great spot to mingle with locals, have a drink from a goat horn, try some cricket-infused guacamole and dance and sing in the streets, courtesy of live music.
Ulcinj, Montenegro One of the most beautiful places I was fortunate to visit. Not your typical “Instagram destination hot spot,” Ulcinj is a vibrant beach town that is not only inexpensive, but serves some of the best food I’ve ever had.
