Rachael Kelleher, a technical writer, and Johnny Serrano, a hair stylist, were originally supposed to have a city wedding on April 11 at Union Trust—but the world had other plans. “When the pandemic caused everything to shut down, we moved our date to July,” says Rachael, who met her groom nine years prior while working at Panera. “At the end of June when the city was still not allowing events, Michelle Finley called us to discuss other options. She offered to move the wedding to another Finley location, the Ballroom at Ellis Preserve, since it had a large outside space.” With a mariachi band (to honor Johnny’s Mexican heritage), seafood martini bar and a dusty-rose color scheme, the couple lived out their dream wedding with 82 guests before escaping to a quick Cape May getaway with a future honeymoon planned for Spain.
MariachiPedro played during the ceremony and cocktail hour as a tribute to Johnny’s Mexican heritage.
