It’s no secret that local businesses have had to get creative when it comes to reaching clients. Here, we catch up with Kin Boutique (shop-kin.com) owner Joey Clark as she launches her new private shopping experience.
How have you been keeping busy during COVID-19?
We have been busy redesigning the store to adhere to the COVID-19 safety regulations and have refocused a ton of our energy toward our new sales channels—including a new online e-commerce site and a shoppable Instagram account. We took a more personal and honest approach to our social media and increased our videos and e-commerce engagement. We have had weekly mental health Q&As with one of our on-staff therapists and free virtual yoga classes on the weekends. We also held an outdoor bake sale to raise money for BLM Philly with some of Philadelphia’s top chefs.
Tell me about the new private shopping experience. What was the process behind creating this, and what is your goal?
Our new safe shopping experience is called Friends With Benefits and allows a client to book the entire store for themselves and up to two friends for their very own hour-and-a-half private styling experience. The store is closed to the public during the appointment, and the client gets the chance to open a bottle of wine (on us), relax and safely shop with their friends.
What can private shoppers look forward to?
The private shopping experience is a chance for customers to come in, and look through (what we like to call the store) ‘their best friend’s closet.’ The one-on-one shopping experience with our Kin stylists focuses on dressing your body type at different price points, from casual loungewear to formal events (if those ever happen again). From the second you walk in the door, our stylists are focused on getting to know you and what you want from your time in the store.
Are there any new pieces or brands that readers can look forward to?
We have seen a big surge in our accessory and home items, so we have added some exciting new lifestyle brands. Estelle Colored Glass is a new line of absolutely beautiful, modern, handblown colored glassware. We also have two new jewelry lines, OMA the Label and Pichulik. And, obviously, we wouldn’t be us if we weren’t always excited about our fall lines from our tried-and-true favorites like Stateside, Citizens of Humanity and Third Form.
What about any other new programs?
We typically host our semiannual Patio Sale during this time of year, but because of the pandemic we have had to move everything online. It’s been kind of fun, though, because instead of just one weekend, the Patio Sale is happening all the time! Customers can follow @shopkin_sale on Instagram for new pieces weekly.
