Danielle Maiale and John Dombroski celebrated their love with an opulent reception at The Union League of Philadelphia.
Pink trees and pink lighting were used to create the whimsical and romantic vibe that Danielle and John hoped for.
When Danielle Maiale met John Dombroski, it was the summer of 2014 in Long Beach Island, N.J. A mutual friend asked them both to join him for a boat ride and the two hit it off immediately. With their first few dates at Philadelphia restaurants, it was only fitting that they choose a venue in the city when they got engaged five years later. “Both John and my parents have been members of the Union League for years, and it has been a special place for all of us,” says Danielle. “Th e Union League team holds themselves to the highest standard and our wedding was absolutely perfect!” Danielle, a fashion blogger, wore a Pnina Tornai gown (in which she sewed a piece of both her mother’s and grandmothers’ wedding dresses) and Jimmy Choo heels as she walked down the aisle with her father—her favorite moment from the ceremony. “My dad and I have always been very close, and having this special moment together will be something I remember for the rest of my life,” she says. Th e couple, known to many as foodies, opted for an extensive three-course menu, dessert room and afterdinner snacks—with their Champagne wall transforming into a late-night spot for Shake Shack burgers and hot dogs. “House of Catherine changed over the signage to include a neon burger sign with the words ‘Enjoy Your Burgers,’” remembers Danielle, who loves cheeseburgers. With the overall vibe of the reception being “a fairy-tale forest,” pink trees, pink lighting, an abundance of candles and over-the-top florals created a romantic and whimsical vibe in white, gold and pink hues. After more celebrating with an afterparty at Th e Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia, the newlyweds jetted off to a 10-day honeymoon in Greece, Positano and Capri.
