If you ask Elena Dicriscio why she settled in the casino-driven, social mecca of Atlantic City, “the only answer is the location,” she says. A native of Riga, Latvia, Dicriscio moved to the Shore a decade ago for her love of traveling—a passion that’s easy to indulge thanks to Atlantic City’s locality among the East Coast’s major cities. After the May 2012 closing of her boutique Eleganza, formerly at The Pier Shops at Caesars, Dicriscio launched her online shop enextdoor.com, featuring many of the same Italian fashion designers as Eleganza. When she isn’t scouting the latest trends, she is at Atlantic City’s top dining spots with friends. Here are her favorites:

Girasole Ristorante & Lounge
“You’ll find me there every day with my girlfriends,” Dicriscio says of the Mediterranean-inspired spot. “They have the best food and happy hour in town.” Her recommendation: the branzino marinated in olive oil, lemon, and mustard or one of the brick oven pizzas. 3108 Pacific Ave., 609-345-5554

Steve & Cookie’s
For an evening off the strip, Dicriscio retreats to Margate’s Steve & Cookies. “It’s great for families because they also have a farmer’s market and the restaurant uses a lot of the local products,” she says. In addition to the fresh oysters, Dicriscio insists on everyone trying the blueberry pie when it’s in season. 9700 Amherst Ave., Margate, 609-823-1163

Buddakan
Given its warm, intimate atmosphere, the Stephen Starr eatery is ideal for private dining. “It’s a great place for sharing and they have a nice Asian fusion menu,” says Dicriscio. When dining here with friends, she opts for the crab fried rice and the Asian Caesar salad with spicy cashews. The Pier Shops at Caesars, 1 Atlantic Ocean, 609-674-0100
