The Bloomfield Estate ball room
The little town of Villanova recently welcomed the cast and crew of next fall’s crime drama, Safe, starring Jason Statham. Director Boaz Yakin and executive producer Kevin Spacey chose the 22,000-square-foot Horace Trumbauer-designed Bloomfield Estate on South Ithan Avenue to double as New York’s Gracie Mansion for a scene between Chris Sarandon (playing NYC’s mayor) and Statham. In the film, Statham plays a former elite agent on a safe-cracking mission, with a slew of threatening enemies such as the Chinese Triads, the Russian mafia and corrupt New York bigwigs in hot pursuit. Shooting began on October 28 and will wrap before Christmas. The movie is set to release in early fall 2011.
