Two doctors fell in love at Thomas Jefferson University’s medical school and said “I do” with an elegant and romantic spring wedding at the beach.

ANN MARIE KELLY and Daniel Courtney, both resident physicians at Dartmouth, met while interviewing for medical school in 2018—and since both chose to attend Thomas Jefferson University—the rest is history. Dan popped the question three years later with an elaborate evening ending with a party at the bride’s family’s bar (Kelly’s Logan House in Wilmington, Del.). “It was truly the most magical proposal and I felt so overwhelmed with love and gratitude,” says Ann Marie.

The couple said “I do,” with a traditional Irish Catholic ceremony in Cape May, N.J., complete with a bagpipe procession, before jumping into a getaway Jeep to spend a quiet moment together on the sand. “Having a moment for the two of us to appreciate our ceremony made it that much more extraordinary,” says Daniel. Crisp white florals and greenery complemented romantic beach tones for an elegant reception at the Icona Avalon.

“The ceiling installation above the dance floor was one of my favorite focal points, which featured a mix of cascading orchids and Italian ruscus hanging directly above the dance floor,” says Ann Marie. The party continued under the stars at Icona’s Sandbar Village while guests enjoyed late-night snacks around fire pits. “It was a perfect way to end our special day, and it was exactly what we envisioned,” says the bride.
The Bake Works cake was half almond with vanilla pastry filling and half chocolate with chocolate pastry filling.
