The grandeur of the Kimmel Center is a befitting backdrop for the annual Great Stages Gala.
On June 8, the Kimmel Center (ensembleartsphilly.org) will unveil Marian Anderson Hall at its annual Great Stages Gala, commemorating the famed Philadelphian with a space bearing her name. And the evening promises to be a celebratory tribute befitting the great contralto and civil rights activist’s legacy. From the gala reception to the Hall unveiling and spectacular performances, the celebration’s pinnacle occurs at a special concert showcasing Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, alongside vocal luminaries Audra McDonald, Angel Blue and Marcus Roberts. Plus, Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe honoree Queen Latifah will emcee the star-studded event.
