The moment you’re greeted by one of the friendly staff members at The Ampersand Hotel is the moment you’ll know you picked the right home away from home. From the lovely drawing room, filled with the day's newspapers and selection of interesting books, to the plush beds and heated bathroom floors, you can rest assured that all your needs have been anticipated. Situated in tony South Kensington just steps from the tube makes for the perfect location. Neighborhood: South Kensington
If you like Reading Terminal, you will love Borough Market, a gigantic outdoor market filled with purveyors of fish, meats, cheeses, coffee, pastries, and essentially anything edible. Grab all the essentials for a picnic or simply eat your way through the market at any of the prepared food vendors. We suggest grabbing a chorizo roll from Brindisa and washing it down with a pint at one of The Market Porter’s outdoor high tops. Neighborhood: London Bridge
Reservations are recommended at one of London’s trendiest new seafood restaurants, Galley. From start to finish, you'll be taken care of by the polished yet relaxed staff, as you enjoy a wide selection of seafood dishes that doesn't include fish and chips. Start with the gorgeous crab salad served over chilled cucumber soup, and the octopus and chorizo a la plancha. Neighborhood: Angel, Islington
One could easily overlook Daquise from its tucked-away corner in bustling South Kensington. But there's a reason this restaurant has been open for nearly 70 years: the incredible, authentic Polish food. From perfectly-cooked kielbasa to a medley of pierogies as delicious as Babcia’s, to the most tender veal schnitzel you’ve ever cut with a fork, this restaurant will firmly plant itself in your memory for years to come. Neighborhood: South Kensington
Craft beer lovers should absolutely make a pilgrimage to Brew by Numbers, a local brewery serving up a variety of beer styles, all of which are executed extremely well. The very limited seating and lack of food make this a one stop shop, but a worthwhile one nonetheless. Pro-tip: if you don’t like crowds or waiting in line, there’s a separate, much shorter line for to-go purchases. Neighborhood: Bermondsey
