With current statistics showing roughly one in eight women will develop breast cancer during their lifetimes, it's important to continue raising awareness. CBS 3 and Susan G. Komen Philadelphia will team up again to raise support for breast cancer by turning the iconic Philadelphia skyline in the color of the cause: pink. For the 15th year, various city landmarks will shine brightly in pink—from Lincoln Financial Field to the USS New Jersey. During this special anniversary event, One Liberty Observation Deck will also offer exclusively priced admission, so locals and visitors can admire the skyline in all of its pink glory.
Join the American Cancer Society for their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event on October 15, an annual 5K Run that raises funds for breast cancer research. The race will start with an opening ceremony at Memorial Hall, where walkers can mingle with survivors, friends, and family, who are all gathered to fight for a cure. Susan G. Komen Philadelphia will host its 15th annual Pink Tie Ball on October 15, to continue their fight against breast cancer. This year's theme will be Moulin Rouge Intensified—guests will be treated to decadent French cuisine, live entertainment, and a silent auction, which includes Pope Francis's papal chair. Come and watch Philadelphia Union play against Orlando City at their home stadium in Chester for a game that honors all local cancer survivors on October 16. The Cooper Foundation will host their yearly Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Brunch to raise funds for breast and gynecological cancer research at Cooper Hospital's MD Anderson Cancer Center on October 30.
