James Beard’s Taste America culinary series takes over the Philadelphia Museum of Art for one night of epicurean delight.
On March 12, foodies from Philadelphia and beyond will congregate for one night only at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) to feast on some of the best food in the city at the revered James Beard Foundation’s Taste America culinary series (jamesbeard.org). Celebrating the diverse culinary environment of the region, this year’s series presents an amazing new lineup of TasteTwenty chefs—20 chef teams from across the country working together to champion the James Beard Foundation’s mission of Good Food for Good, which centers around the notion that mindful, ethical and community-oriented food practices uplift everyone involved, from patrons to producers.
Some of the country’s most inventive fare will be on full display while you sample bites amid the grandeur of the PMA’s grand staircase and soaring walls.
“We’re thrilled to host Taste America in Philadelphia and celebrate the city’s distinct and vibrant food culture through the work of our incredible Taste Twenty and guest chefs,” says Siobhan Flaherty Haber, vice president of events at the James Beard Foundation. And what he has in store is nothing less than gastronomic heaven. At 16-plus beautifully curated food and beverage tasting stations dotted throughout the PMA’s awe-inspiring galleries and hallways, restaurateurs and purveyors serve up delicious fare—while an all-star lineup of local and visiting chefs are paired together to collaborate and offer a unique window into the tastes, traditions and innovations that are shaping the American food scene today.
The Taste America Philadelphia event will be led by trailblazing host chef Jezabel Careaga, whose avant-garde vision continues redefining possibilities at Jezabel’s, as well as visiting TasteTwenty chef Patricia Estorino, the creative force behind Gustazo Cuban Kitchen & Bar in Boston. Locally, Revolution Taco chef Carolyn Nguyen, Down North Pizza’s co-chefs Muhammad Abdul-Hadi and Michael Carter, River Twice’s Randy Rucker and others bring highlights of the city’s flavors to the event. Joining them are other shining standouts shaping the local dining scene, such as Alexandra Holt and Amanda Shulman from 2024 James Beard semifinalist My Loup and 2023 semifinalist Andrew Henshaw from Laser Wolf, and more. Together, they represent the diversity and promise of American cuisine that does the James Beard Foundation justice.
