Chefs Yehuda Sichel, Jeff Michaud, Jonathan Adams, Pierre Carmels, Jose Garces, Michael Fiorillo, Kevin Sbraga, and Michael Solomonov join forces for The Garces Foundation's gala.
Fine dining and giving back join forces on Thursday, October 3, when chef Jose Garces and Dr. Beatriz Mirabal Garces will host the second annual The Garces Foundation Gala at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts. Garces, an Iron Chef and Philadelphia native, will join with a group of talented cooks to help raise funds and awareness for Philadelphia’s immigrant community using this year’s theme: Think Local/Give Local.
“The gala is a true labor of love for me,” says Garces. “I hand picked every participating chef because I truly believe they are the best of our local talent. I hope that people will come and enjoy themselves at what I promise [will] be a wonderful evening.”
Guest should arrive ready to enjoy dishes that will prominently feature locally sourced ingredients. Décor, cocktails, beer, uniforms, entertainment (the Hip Philly Band), and auction items are also set to hail from the Philadelphia area.
“Our cause is a special one,” explains Garces. “We make sure, through targeted and thoughtful programming, that our city’s undeserved immigrants have access to healthcare, education, and nutrition that will make their families’ lives better.”
VIP tickets are available to sponsors ($5,000+; 5 p.m.) and allow guests access to a private cocktail reception and meet-and-greet with Garces, Kevin Sbraga, Michael Solomonov, and Greg Vernick at the Kimmel Center’s Dorrance H. Hamilton Rooftop Garden. Top-tier attendees will then enjoy a four-course sit-down meal prepared by the chefs, along with a live auction.
General admission tickets ($200; 7 p.m.) include dishes prepared by the likes of Eli Kulp, Michael Santoro, Michael Schulson, Marc Vetri, and more. VIP and general admission guests will join together at 10 p.m. to enjoy dessert, drinks, music and dancing, and a silent auction.
