Lash expert Kamila Golaszewska shares her top tips for brides-to-be who want to look their best on the big day.
Kamila Golaszewska opened Kamila Beauty Studio (kamilabeautystudio.com) in 2019—after dreaming of owning her salon since she was a little girl. Having trained in Europe and the United States, Kamila boasts over thirteen years of experience as a professional lash artist, licensed esthetician, PMU Artist and certified MUA. Kamila offers services ranging from lash extensions to Yumi eyelash and brow lifts, brow architecture, facial treatments and makeup classes. Here, she shares her top five tips for brides-to-be who want to look their best on the big day.
1. PLAN AHEAD I suggest planning your brows and lashes at least two months before the wedding. Choosing between lash lifts or extensions should start with a thorough consultation. The initial new set of lash extensions should be done a month before the wedding, plus one or two infills before the wedding day (it gives us time to work on perfecting the shape, length and curl of lash extensions). A lash lift should be done a week before the wedding, and services like brow lamination (Yum Brow Lift) or regular shaping or tinting should be done a few days before the wedding—never a day before or the day of.
2. PATCH TEST If you are highly prone to allergic reactions or suffer from dry eye syndrome, I recommend strip lashes. We can do a patch test to determine potential allergies.
3. USE A LASH SERUM It’s great to start using a lash serum like Revitalash to grow your natural lashes longer and denser, making a Yumi Lash Lift or lash extensions look better.
4. BEMINDFUL OF OTHER SERVICES When planning your lash or brow appointment, make sure to schedule your other services accordingly. It’s best to see your lash/brow stylist at least a day after your spray tan, facial or hair appointment—never before. Keep in mind that any medical aesthetic appointments should be scheduled a few weeks before the wedding and never on the same day as your lashes/brows.
5. AFTER CARE IS KEY Both lash extensions and a lash lift require avoiding contact with water for 24-48 hours after the appointment. For extensions, avoid oil-based products and heavy eye makeup that can break down the adhesive. If your honeymoon involves water activities, a lash lift might be a better option as it is more durable in humid or wet conditions. Always be gentle when cleaning your lashes to make them last longer.
