What happens when a prominent interior designer who has conquered countless dream projects is considering her next career high? For Lauren Wylonis, the answer was obvious: write a book. In At Home with KingsHaven: Estates, Interiors, Landscapes (Images Publishing Group, kingshaven.com), the owner of Paoli’s posh lighting and design showroom KingsHaven takes readers inside mesmerizing new and historic properties across the Main Line. The 236-page coffee-table tome, featuring photography by Joshua McHugh, details masterful restoration and new-build projects by Wylonis, including estates designed by prominent Philadelphia architects William Lightfoot Price and Bissell & Sinkler. Contemporary furnishings and finishes abound, but original elements like beam ceilings, decorative plasterwork and stained-glass windows remain the irreplaceable stars of the residences. Wylonis, a Philly native who raised her children on the Main Line, says she has always had a passion for preserving and reviving the original craftsmanship of older homes. “Renovation and modernization of these properties in a way that is respectful but meets the functional needs of family life can create properties of distinction, texture and stunning beauty,” she says.
