It’s 2022 and anime is officially high brow—but fans of Studio Ghibli will tell you the work of the legendary company’s animator-founder Hayao Miyazaki always has been.
Count Loewe among those die-hard believers, because the Spanish luxury fashion house just debuted the first images of its forthcoming Studio Ghibli capsule collection, with bags and other pieces inspired by Miyazaki’s 2001 opus Spirited Away.

The film tells the heart-warming tale of one little girl who finds her family sucked into a surrealist spirit world, and she’s the only one who can save her parents from the supernatural. She learns a lot about herself along the way, and viewers quickly fall in love with the vibrant and absurd creatures within.
It's those creatures and characters that feature prominently on the Loewe items, including the old woman Baba Yaga, the adorable soot spirits, and—of course—the ever-iconic kaonashi, aka “no face.”
Loewe's creative director Jonathan Anderson teased a first look at the collection on Instagram, rocking Loewe x Spirited Away totes, blankets, bags, shoes, clothes and more. High Snobiety also debuted a few close-ups of high-end handbags and charms. According to the report, items start at $380 and move up from there.
The Loewe x Spirited Away collection launches Friday, Jan. 7, but fans can sign up for early access until 11:59 CET on Monday, Jan. 3. The fashion house teamed with the animation monolith last January on a capsule collection that portrayed characters from the studio’s fan-favorite My Neighbor Totoro. Perhaps there is more movie magic up Loewe’s sleeve in years to come?
If you need more Studio Ghibli in your life, you might look forward to How Do You Live?, the first Miyazaki film since 2013's The Wind Rises. The studio also has plans to open a theme park in its native Japan in 2022.
Learn more about this upcoming Spirited Away collection via High Snobiety and at loewe.com. The film is a true classic, and the capsule collection is sure to move soon, so don’t be caught sleeping, or you might turn into a pig.
