Made in America is one of the most anticipated music festivals in Philadelphia. The 2023 event scheduled for September 2 and 3 this year anticipated celebrity appearances and blowout performances. On Tuesday, August 8, Made in America released a statement declaring the event canceled "due to severe circumstances outside of production control."

With past headliners including some of the most prominent music artists in the industry, Justin Bieber, Megan Thee Stallion and more, the 2023 lineup followed suit with high-caliber talent, including headliners Lizzo and SZA. While the Made In America statement does not mention the exact reason for the cancellation, the drastic change in plans may be a result of recent allegations against Lizzo regarding harassment.
The newly filed lawsuit neither confirms nor denies said allegations. However, the less-than-favorable claims may have been enough to call off the major Philadelphia music festival this year.
Bad Bunny, Toro Y Moi and additional outstanding artists took the stage at the 2022 festival. Music enthusiasts miss the adrenaline-pumping performances from Ice Spice, Miguel and other hip-hop and R&B music artists this year. Made in America 2024 could include many 2023 acts, but such details are still pending.
The legendary producer, rapper and entrepreneur founded Made in America in 2012. The track "Made in America," from the Watch the Throne album released in 2011 by Jay-Z and Kanye West, inspired the title of the cultural event.
Not only do attendees get satisfaction from the cultural, artistic and social aspects of Made in America, the event is in partnership with nonprofit organizations to support good causes. Local artists design the print for the Cause Village entrance sign's oversize letters each festival. The designs correlate to one of the many philanthropic causes Made in America supports, including but not limited to education, animal welfare, financial literacy, mental health and environmental sustainability.
The Benjamin Franklin Parkway transforms into festival grounds with amusement park rides, carnival games and food trucks with gourmet and traditional cuisines for Made in America. With over 80,000 attendees in the first year of operation, the festival was an immediate success, with approximately $10 million of economic stimulation to Philadelphia.
While having a blast at the Philly-based music fest, attendees can access medical professionals staffed at multiple First Aid locations throughout the grounds. The festival grounds design prioritizes accessibility to navigate by wheelchair for guests in need of such accommodations with ADA loading and unloading zones.
As festival season persists throughout the summer, fall and Labor Day weekend, festivalgoers solidify tickets, accommodations and plans. Unfortunately, Made In America is no longer a part of those plans this year. Ticket holders are refunded at their original point of purchase and encouraged to attend Made in America 2024.
