New essentials for a new season
Pilot and Powell co-founders Kathryn Bullock and Coeli Hilferty
READY FOR TAKEOFF
Main Line mavens first became familiar with Pilot and Powell (pilotandpowell.com) when the New Orleans-bred contemporary womenswear concept hosted a holiday popup in Suburban Square in December 2020. Spurred on by the boutique’s success, co-owners Coeli Hilferty and Kathryn Bullock started to scout for a permanent spot–but it had to be the right location. Three years later, Pilot and Powell is now settled in a 600-square-foot jewel box of a space filled with nods to its Crescent City sister. “We used the same interior designer as our New Orleans location so the store reflects the same design elements,” says Hilferty, who grew up on the Main Line and splits time between both shops. Many of the designer brands that Pilot and Powell built their business around fill the racks here like Marni, Isabelle Marant, Tibi and Mara Hoffman. There’s also an emphasis on fine jewelry with modern appeal—think Lizzie Fortunato, Marie Lichtenberg and Jenna Blake—which has been a steadily growing category for the boutique. As shoppers begin to consider their spring wardrobes, Bullock says to focus on transitional pieces that you can buy and wear now in shades of citrus, ice blue and red. The secret to the pair’s sartorial success is simple. “We follow our intuition,” says Bullock, “It’s emotional buying with a curated eye.”

More is more when it comes to Gorjana’s approach to modern accessories.
GOING FOR THE GOLD
What do Michelle Obama, Olivia Wilde and Kaley Cuoco all have in common? The trio of style setters are all fans of Gorjana (gorjana.com). The accessories collection just opened the doors to a new boutique in Suburban Square, following a successful Pennsylvania debut with the opening of its Rittenhouse location in 2022. Known for its West Coast vibe, the 20-year-old brand is known for its infinitely wearable, layer-worthy looks, like gold-plated and fine necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Co-founder and chief creative officer Gorjana Reidel says that she is excited to build upon the brand’s current East Coast footprint and reach even more Philadelphiabased customers. “We look forward to complementing Ardmore’s sophisticated shopping scene with a touch of SoCal’s laid-back elegance, showcasing a stunning selection of fine and everyday gold pieces, diamonds, opals and sapphires.” For spring, we’re loving the diamond alphabet necklaces and gold huggies earrings.
