A fall backyard wedding with warm autumnal tones and romantic details was the perfect setting for Mia Colona and Mak Kemenosh to say “I do.”
Mia and Mak in Lawrenceville, N.J.
A two-and-a-half-year engagement due to the pandemic and a venue change three weeks before the date turned out to be the best thing for Mia Colona and Mak Kemenosh—who finally got to celebrate their love with 75 of their closest family and friends in the most meaningful way—at the private home of Nicole Miller Philadelphia owner Mary K. Dougherty. “Mary really started my career in fashion—she taught me everything,” says Mia of her first job at Nicole Miller Philadelphia. “She has been an incredible mentor and one of the most important women in my life for over 15 years, so to be getting married in her backyard was really meaningful.” The Lawrenceville, N.J., refurbished barn was filled with eclectic furniture and Mary’s own vintage tablecloths, complemented by centerpieces like gold tapers, vessels styled with figs and grapes, and mismatched bud vases with garden roses. CTO Midtown Express kept everyone dancing all night (on the tennis court turned dance floor), before Mia changed into her third and final look of the evening—a slinky, sequined Halston gown. Guests enjoyed a Mister Softee ice cream truck visit to end the night, a nod to Mak’s grandfather—the late James Conway and co-founder of Mister Softee. The Philly duo jetted off to a quick minimoon in Charleston, S.C., and plan to travel to Greece for their honeymoon this summer.
