By: Nina Violi By: Nina Violi | September 10, 2021 | Lifestyle

Philadelphia Benjamin Franklin statue

The City of Brotherly Love is filled with rich history and historic memories. A train ride or drive from the suburbs is a short commute to one of the greatest cities in the country. The Liberty Bell, City Hall and the Rocky Statue are great places to visit when you go to Philadelphia, just to name a few.

Taking great pictures creates everlasting memories for tourists everywhere. When you go to Philadelphia, there are so many places to take pictures for your phone or to post on Instagram.

1020 South St. / Website

Located on South Street, the Magic Gardens is not your average art gallery. Sure, there are galleries inside, but when you step outside, you walk through a maze full of life. Surround yourself with beautiful and colorful art, then make some art of your own. This popular gallery was founded by Isaiah Zagar who used everyday items like mirrors and bottles to create this magical gallery.

Philadelphia Museum of Art

2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy. / Website

This popular museum, located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is one of the largest in the country. The museum holds more than 200,000 works of art originating from Europe, the Americas and Asia. Outside the museum, you'll find the iconic steps shown in the movie Rocky and the “Rocky” statue located on the right side of the steps. Many events take place in front of the museum, including Made in America Festival, Wawa Welcomes America on the 4th of July, and the Philly Thanksgiving Day Parade.

City Hall

1400 John F Kennedy Blvd. / Website

This building holds the government officials’ offices of the city along with the office of the mayor. Located on John F. Kennedy Boulevard, a statue of Benjamin Franklin sits atop the building. There are several locations around the building where you can take beautiful pictures. The Observation Tower at the top offers a 360-degree view of the city. When you walk through the gates of City Hall, you walk into an outdoor space with a big compass painted on the concrete, and you won't be able to help but take a picture. There is a strip of sidewalk in the middle of Broad Street with City Hall in the background, and this too is a perfect place to take pictures for engagements, weddings, proms and any other special occasion.

LOVE Park

Arch St. / Website

The John F. Kennedy Plaza, known to most as LOVE Park, is located minutes away from City Hall. Since it is the City of Brotherly Love, this sign is perfect to take pictures in front of, with the art museum in the background. Across from the Franklin Institute, you'll also find an AMOR sign, the Spanish word for “love,” which is another great spot for a photo!

Independence Hall/Liberty Bell

520 Chestnut St. between 5th and 6th Streets / Website

Located on Chestnut Street, this iconic building is where the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776. Outside the building, there is a beautiful green space where you can take photos with Independence Hall in the background, or just sit and relax. The Liberty Bell, a symbol of our country's independence, is located next to Independence Hall and is open to take photos in front of as well.

301 S Christopher Columbus Blvd. / Website

This is a picture-perfect place on South Christopher Columbus Boulevard (and my personal favorite spot in the city). Enjoy one of the many hammocks that hang between the trees and take in the lights hanging which make for a beautiful sight at night. Located near Penn’s Landing, a boardwalk runs along the Delaware River featuring food trucks for hungry photographers.

Benjamin Franklin Bridge

1 Benjamin Franklin Bridge / Website

First constructed in 1922, the Benjamin Franklin Bridge has a sidewalk for pedestrians to catch a fantastic view of the city. Taking you above the Delaware River, it connects Philadelphia and Camden, New Jersey. It runs 9,573 feet, so you can definitely get a workout in while enjoying the beautiful view!

Opened in 1821 on Fairmount Avenue, this building used to be a prison until the 1970s. If you’re looking for a rustic or more historic place to take pictures, this is the spot for you! Tours are available. We recommend taking the tour on Halloween when they host Halloween Nights and haunted houses walk-throughs.
