Aunyea Lachelle, the host of NBC10’s Philly Live show, wasn’t going to let a pandemic get in the way of saying “I do” to Jean Lubin, her chance of nearly two years. For Aunyea and Jean, who met through mutual friends in the summer of 2012 (Aunyea a student at West Chester University, and Jean a student at Temple), romance was a big factor from the moment they got engaged.
When it comes to decor, the bride is planning for lots of gold, ivory and greenery for a
warm, romantic and intimate vibe.
“On my 25th birthday, I thought Jean was taking me out for dinner and a fun night in the city,” remembers Aunyea, of the night Jean proposed. “Little did I know he planned a surprise helicopter ride for us that overlooked Philadelphia.”
Aunyea plans to outfit her bridesmaids in satin maxi dresses such as this one by Watters. Sonya dress, $295, Bella Bridesmaids, 30 South Bank St.
It was only fitting that the romantic pair said “I do” on their original wedding date of May 31, 2020, in the most intimate of settings. “We got married at New Hope Temple Baptist Church, which was founded by my late, great-great-grandfather Rev. Dewitt Beauford in 1926,” says Aunyea. “It was very sentimental—only our parents, grandparents and siblings were in attendance.
When it comes to accessories, Aunyea is “all about bling bling.” She plans to wear embellished sandals like these by Badgley Mischka. $255, Neiman Marcus, King of Prussia Mall, neimanmarcus.com
Although the glam reception the duo had planned at the Merion was rescheduled for June 13, 2021, there is a silver lining. “We got a lot of the nerves out of the way the first time around, so this June will be much more of a celebration and a party!” says Aunyea.
The Merion (themerion.com), where Aunyea and Jean will celebrate in 2021, is known for its 40-foot-diameter glass dome in the Skylight Ballroom.
