A roundup of new things heading to the beach and beyond. The annual Peach Music Festival migrates to Island Water Park at Showboat for the first time.
THINGS ARE PEACHY
The popular Peach Music Festival surprised fans with the announcement that for 2024 it will move from its traditional home in Scranton, Pa. to the brand-new outdoor Summer Concert Stage at Island Water Park at Showboat Resort (showboathotelac.com). Along with the change in venue comes a new moniker: “The Peach at the Beach.” The Allman Brothers-inspired festival, which takes place Saturday, July 13, will feature a stellar lineup of jam bands, including Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Dogs in a Pile, Trouble No More, Karina Rykman and Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru. Pre- and post-parties will take place as well, including a performance on Friday, July 12, by The Disco Biscuits inside the Bourbon Ballroom at Showboat. On Saturday, Marco Benevento & Friends, along with Doom Flamingo, will perform a post-party Peach After Dark set.
Tennessee Avenue Cigar Lounge melds with Rhythm & Spirits to create an all-new concept.
UP IN SMOKE
The always-evolving Orange Loop continues its tradition of re-inventing spaces, as the site of popular cocktail bar/Italian restaurant Rhythm & Spirits (rhythmandspirits.com) fuses together with Tennessee Avenue Cigar Lounge and pairs up with its neighbors to form a sort of nightlife version of Voltron (minus the robot). Rhythm & Spirits will become a seasonal space, with the restaurant portion migrating to their outdoor backyard, while the new Cigar Lounge sets up shop inside. Most cigar lounges are dry, but thanks to the laws allowing liquor delivery in Atlantic City, guests at the Tennessee Avenue Cigar Lounge will be able to order drinks from the neighboring bars, such as Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall and Bar 32, which, like Rhythm & Spirits and the Cigar Lounge, are also owned by entrepreneur Mark Callazzo. “The cigar lounge will be a great complement to the current offerings on Tennessee Avenue,” says Callazzo. “I couldn’t plan a better pairing if I tried than a nice Maduro cigar and the chocolate Manhattan next door at Bar 32.”
The Hook is a fabulously entertaining show which pays homage to the golden era of entertainment in Atlantic City.
OFF THE HOOK
It debuted in 2023, but if you have let an entire year go by without experiencing the fabulously chic and acrobatically inspirational show at Caesars known as The Hook, you need to change that—fast. Produced by Spiegelworld (spiegelworld.com), The Hook has the newly restored Warner Theater serving as its home base, and the adults-only show, which has performances Wednesdays through Sundays, serves as a sort of tip of the cap to the golden era of live entertainment in Atlantic City. It’s raucously raunchy, fabulously funny, certainly sexy and easily the best way one can spend 75 minutes in Atlantic City.
