Christina Bishof and Christian Sivel both attended Wissahickon High School but started dating after college graduation in 2017. After getting engaged at Marathon on the Square (where they had their first date) in June 2021, they knew they wanted to get married at Hotel Du Village. “We loved the idea that our guests would enjoy their time in the beautiful town of New Hope,” says Christina of the French-themed venue. “Hotel Du Village does an amazing job of marrying the town’s history with its artistic taste.”

The bride, who fell in love with the idea of a wedding “feeling like a fancy dinner party” with colorful flowers and tall candles, enlisted the help of Lisa Marie Chimento of Kaleidoscope Weddings to execute the French garden party vision.

“Every hour or so, we made sure to grab each other to take a step back, find a secluded area and take five minutes to observe from a guest’s perspective,” says Christina. “It was incredible to see how many people came from around the country to celebrate with us.”

David Judd, a real estate broker, and Rebecca Oswald, an art director, met in the fall of 2013 when David was interning for the Philadelphia Soul and Rebecca was on the Soul’s dance team. In December 2021, David popped the question, and the duo set the date to tie the knot at Lilah.

“Our first apartment was in Fishtown, so when Lilah opened, we knew we had to show our families and friends a glimpse into one of our favorite neighborhoods,” says Rebecca. After a Jewish ceremony, 160 guests dined family style on halibut kataiff, za’atar roasted chicken and coffeebraised brisket—a nod to David’s grandmother, who included coffee in her recipe. Inspired by vintage weddings and a feeling of nostalgia, the bride referenced wedding albums of her grandparents to incorporate a timeless feel into the day— Rebecca’s aunt even sewed a piece of her grandmother’s dress into her bouquet—a family tradition.

When Peter Herlihey, a Naval officer, proposed to Emily Rethlake, a medical-oncology nurse in the summer of 2021, he wanted it to be a total surprise. “Peter proposed at More Mesa in Santa Barbara, a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean,” remembers Emily. “He pretended he saw something in the water and told me to look. As I was looking through the binoculars, he got down on one knee.”

Fourteen months later, the couple said “I do” at St. Thomas of Villanova, where they first met about three years prior. They celebrated at Philander Chase Knox Estate amid powder blue, soft gray and white tablescapes complete with patterned blue napkins, rattan lanterns, gorgeous romantic blooms and an abundance of candlelight. “Our goal was to create an elegant feeling for the day without being overly formal,” says the bride.

When Nick Tierno proposed to Rachel Dubitsky in the spring of 2021, he ensured it would be unforgettable. The couple, who met on a night out in Philadelphia four years prior, traveled to San José del Cabo, where Nick arranged to have the beach covered in roses and candles.

“The sky was the color of cotton candy,” says Rachel. “We had a private dinner on the beach and a violinist played. It was such a beautiful and unforgettable day!” Inspired by the cotton candy sky of Cabo, Rachel and Nick planned an October beach wedding at The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor, NJ.

“We wanted a smaller, more intimate wedding, and it was the perfect fit for us,” says Rachel. “The view of the bay is stunning, especially during golden hour.” The newlywed’s 115 guests dined on filet mignon and crab cakes before the duo jetted off to a Bora Bora honeymoon.
