Lindsey Schuster, founder of The Motherchic (@themotherchic) fashion and lifestyle blog and bona fide social media influencer, may be based in the Philadelphia suburbs, but her life as a busy wife and mom of four boys has universal appeal. Schuster’s 135K Instagram followers tag along as she tracks down the ultimate athleisure looks, scours T.J.Maxx for stylish decor finds and combs the shelves at Sephora for an enviable skincare haul. But Schuster says that her blog is about much more than just on-trend retail finds. “The Motherchic is a fashion and lifestyle brand that gives accessible fashion inspiration to women who are in the thick of motherhood and/or their careers. Our mission is to give women confidence in fashion and an outlet to connect with other women.” She strikes the right chord between tastemaker and parent by keeping her content as authentic as possible. “Yes, I’m a fashion blogger, but I also have four kids! The two worlds collide quite often, and honestly that is some of my best content because it’s relatable."
Over time, major fashion brands like Nordstrom, Amazon, J.Crew, Lululemon, Sephora and Everlane have taken notice of The Motherchic and teamed up with Schuster. She says that the partnerships are successful because she can genuinely speak to their products. “When working with these brands on campaigns, I have styling freedom, and all product choices are always my own. I’ve also had the opportunity to create several collections with the brand Gibsonlook, which was sold exclusively at Nordstrom and also on gibsonlook.com.”
Schuster says that, like always, life will dictate content on The Motherchic this year. “The past year we have had to pivot our content so that it was relevant in the current climate. Sweatpants replaced party dresses, and banana bread replaced lipstick. As we enter 2021 we are constantly evolving so that we can continue to be an outlet for people when they need it most.”
