Philadelphia’s emerging artists find a home at Old City’s newest gallery.

When recalling his earliest memories, Graham Cuddy sees The Barnes Foundation, where he once spent many days with his docent mother. This early intertwinement with art was only the beginning—last month, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and UPenn alumnus opened a gallery at 30 S. 2nd St. Procession (@processiongallery) is truly one of a kind in Philly, offering a space for emerging and established artists to exhibit and sell work, as well as make connections.

“Through many discussions with fellow painters about the limited opportunities to exhibit work, the idea [for the gallery] began to take shape,” says Cuddy. “So much great work goes unseen. I hope that Procession introduces the city to a younger generation of artists with their own unique painting styles.”

For now, the space will focus on the representational and abstract side of painting with plans to show photography and smaller sculptures. “With the closure of programs at PAFA and UArts, it’s more important than ever to show that the city’s art scene is still vibrant and growing.” Stop in on weekends or by appointment on weekdays to see the next generation of Philly artists.
