Their in-store beach boutique has a variety of swimwear and their BKD self-tanning product line to extend your tan at home too, so you won’t leave empty handed. Founded in 2010, owner Adrienne Volpetti has grown Baked and developed their reputation for natural looking tans that are never orange, never streaky and always flawless! Each tan is custom blended by their tanning experts then applied by hand to ensure even coverage so good no one will know they’re faux.
In 2020, they also expanded their retail space and brought in L*Space Swimwear. From bikinis to one pieces and dresses and cover ups, your next tropical getaway or Jersey Shore weekend outfit can be found there. You’ll also find their BKD self-tanning products available - The BKD line has five products: BKD Glow, BKD H2O, BKD Mousse, BKD Hydrate and BKD To Go. BKD H2O, a best seller, is a gradual tanning water used to maintain the sun kissed glow using pharmaceutical grade DHA ( read: brown never yellow ) to give the skin a natural tan at home.
What is the most gratifying part of your business?
Getting to meet so many people! It is always exciting seeing some of my earliest supporters and our regulars, but, also having new clients pop in or move into the area and discover us. It always makes me so happy when people fall in love with their tan and feel great for their event or vacation or date or job interview - whatever the case! I also take a lot of pride in our staff we have come a long way, it was just me for a long time, and I am so proud to have such a great team working at Baked who are just as passionate as I am.
What is the most common misconception about spray tanning?
Obviously the O word. ( Orange ) We have a TON of new clients who may have had a spray tan in the past and didn’t have natural looking results, or they have heard a horror story from a friend. The reality is getting a spray tan is a two person job. The client has to prep and maintenance the tan correctly, and we have to mix the perfect shade and make sure we apply it flawlessly. We take our time walking our clients through the entire process - from the best time to come in, to our equipment, to how to get ready for your appointment, to what to expect that first shower and the days following. Our staff being extremely knowledgable is incredibly important to me, we want to be able to answer all questions and put our clients at ease. This experience should be FUN!
