Small leather Kaia satchel bags, $1,490 each, and small python Kaia satchel bags, $1,990 all by Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent.
Anthony Vaccarello has conquered the art of infusing the house codes of Saint Laurent with his modern sense of glamour. The designer’s spring/summer 2020 outing was no different, referencing two of founder Yves Saint Laurent’s most iconic signatures: Le Smoking and the hippie-infused Russian collection presented in the mid-’70s. Vaccarello is a master of reinterpreting the past for the consumer of today: His version of Le Smoking is rendered in sequins, velvets and leathers paired with microshorts, while his richly patterned paisleys are served in sultry silhouettes. The most notable moment on the runway, though, came from the absence of handbags—letting a lone style appear only a single time on the arm of “it” model Kaia Gerber. The crossbody style, which also bears the model’s first name, merges Saint Laurent’s bohemian flair with a sleek elegance thanks to its rounded shapes and heavy metal logo clasp. Offered in a range of textures—including natural python and vegetal leather with a vintage finish to give it a special worn-in quality—the Kaia is the dream everyday shoulder bag for both sleek city girls and chic women across the globe.
