In a city filled with attractive people everywhere you look, some of Philly’s sexiest men can be found right behind the bar or kitchen. Here, six food and drink connoisseurs share how it feels to be one of Philly’s hottest, as well as their unique styles, and go-to spots.
How do you feel about being called sexy? "It's humbling to be put into such a category along with my fellow colleagues. How does it feel? Awesome. Am I blushing behind my beard? You'll never know." Describe your style. "Some may say my style is overdressed, but I don't dress for them, I dress for myself. I enjoy wearing a suit out to dinner and button up and slacks for a few beers. I feel like my generation has got a little too casual for a night out. And remember guys, the right pair of shoes or boots will complete an outfit." Where do you like to hang out? "I'm not one of those guys who has a neighborhood spot—I'm someone who loves to explore the city and find a new spot. From dive bars to wine bars, from cocktail lounges to taprooms, it's rare to find me on the same barstool night after night. If all else fails, I have my home bar to imbibe from."
How do you feel about being called sexy? "On behalf of blonde Italians everywhere, I am pleased to accept this honor." Describe your style. "With being fair skinned, blonde, and blue-eyed, I don’t have a lot of options on the color spectrum. I have a classic yet contemporary, understated, and functional sense of style. I like well-crafted and well-designed pieces that stand out just enough. I never want to look back at a photo of myself and think, 'What was I wearing?'" Where do you like to hang out? "Really good food and drinks are important to me. I love Aldine’s food and cocktail program, and Olde Bar has my favorite bar snack: roll mops. Kanella is a favorite too, but as a whiskey fan, you can find me at the Trestle Inn."
How do you feel about being called sexy? "Even without my Florida tan (which definitely faded away), I work towards keeping up appearances, despite endless hours in the kitchen. Just like my food, I have to keep my look tight and sexy. It would be an honor to be classified as one of the hottest Chefs to represent this awesome city!" Describe your style. "I’m pretty versatile [by wearing] laid-back, classy, edgy, or beach wear. I do wear accessories like bracelets, watches, hats etc., which I think all add a bit of character. My style also matches my outgoing, spontaneous personality. I don’t fall into just one category when it comes to style." Where do you like to hang out? "Depends what I'm in the mood for! A quick drink after work at Bru in Center City, or a mojito at Cuba Libre, and dancing on the weekends. I live in Manyunk, which has many cool bars and spots to chill in my neighborhood—basically anywhere there is food, friends, and beer!"
How do you feel about being called sexy? "It’s a humbling thought to be amongst the hottest men in Philly. I’d like to think that Philly, as a whole, both male and female, is a very attractive city. Must be something in the water—or maybe just the water ice." Describe your style. "I like to suit up as often as possible. Not sure whether or not it was 12 years of Catholic schooling, but I am my most comfortable in a suit, or at least a blazer and jeans. First impressions are very important in life, so, in my opinion, there’s no excuse for dressing like a slob." Where do you like to hang out? "I enjoy wine bars, such as Tria and Vintage, but more likely than not, you can find me hanging out at Good Dog, my favorite bar in the city."
How do you feel about being called sexy? "I'm flattered and speechless. I don't think of myself that way, but of course it feels nice to be complimented like that." Describe your style. "I like to keep it classic. I like to look good but honestly, I rely on my wife and friends that are really fashionable to tell me how to spice things up." Where do you like to hang out? "I probably spend way too much time in the Italian Market and just wandering around my neighborhood. I love to try out new restaurants around the city."
How do you feel about being called sexy? "Not sure how hot I am but I'd like to think my drinks are pretty sexy." Describe your style. "Old School with a modern twist, I will usually wear a bow-tie and mix in a splash of color." Where do you like to hang out? "Because I spend lot of time in Midtown Village on 13th Street for work, I will usually stay in the neighborhood. The energy is great and there are so many bars and restaurants to choose from."
