There’s something especially romantic about celebrating in the summer—which is why May to August are the perfect months to say “I do.” These four couples tied the knot with the most stylish spring and summer soirees.

1. KYRA RILE & DOUGLAS DUDLEY

Ceremony & Reception: Curtis Arboretum

In 2009, Kyra Rile was working at the Cherry Hill Mall when Douglas Dudley approached her. “We met the old-fashioned way. He asked me for my number,” says Kyra, who is now an SVP of global human resources. After two years of dating, the couple got engaged during a power outage. “We started to light candles and I found a box that said ‘trash’—I opened it, saw a ring box and squealed!” says Kyra of the emerald-cut diamond her groom was trying to hide. Thirteen years later, Kyra walked down the aisle in Jimmy Choo shoes before dancing with her husband and 100 guests to the band Carnivale, her favorite part of the reception. “Best band ever!” says the bride. “They played every song on our set list.”

In November 2020, Sean Strachan and Greggory Wilhoite went on a date at Vernick Fish, followed by a stroll in Rittenhouse Square before ending up on Greg’s rooftop for a drink—where Greg, who met Sean about eight months prior on the dating app Hinge—got down on one knee and proposed. “I had a feeling something was happening since there was a really nice bottle of Champagne in Greg’s fridge,” says Sean. The couple exchanged rings from Tiffany & Co. during a personal ceremony crafted by celebrant Alisa Tongg before dancing as newlyweds to Taylor Swift’s “Lover.” The grooms’ guests gushed over Hotel Monaco’s delectable menu including a 48-day-dry-aged filet with risotto and Brussels sprouts before continuing the party with Taste of Philly’s late-night cheesesteaks on the hotel’s rooftop.

3. CASEY ADAMS & EVAN DIMARTINO
May 14, 2022
Ceremony & Reception: The River House at Odet te’s

Italian culture is important to Casey Adams and Evan DiMartino—who met as undergrads at Saint Joseph’s University in 2013. It was only fitting that Evan proposed to Casey while in Italy six years later. “We celebrated [the engagement] with a private winery visit, and a bottle of wine from that day was on our sweetheart table at the wedding,” says Casey. The couple spared no chance to share their love for Italy—serving espresso and blood orange versions (written in Italian) of a “DiMartini,” offering cannoli with espresso-ricotta filling for dessert and homemade limoncello for guests to take home. Before the couple headed to Sicily for yet another Italian adventure, they danced the night away with family and friends and continued the affair with an afterparty at Havana in downtown New Hope.

4. CAROLYN DAVIES & DANIEL BRADY

Ceremony: St . El izabeth Roman
Catholic Church (on May 12, 2022)
Ceremony & Reception: Greystone Hall (on May 13, 2022)

Carolyn Davies and Daniel Brady immediately hit it off at a bar in Wilmington, Del., six years ago. “Danny was making the whole table roar with laughter and I was rallying the group to take oyster shooters (which are truly disgusting—I was just trying to impress Danny),” says Carolyn. “It was an electric and magnetic start to an everlasting relationship.” The couple—who got engaged five years after that memorable first encounter—were married on May 12, 2022, in an intimate Catholic mass at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church—and had an additional small ceremony (so all the guests could witness the big smooch) before 200 loved ones the next day at Greystone Hall. The foodie duo adored Sage Catering’s menu—from the risotto bar to the filet mignon—and everything in between. “Everyone raved about their dish,” says the bride, who also made time for the dance floor. “We played ‘Lazy Mary’ by Lou Monte, passed around a couple bottles of wine, Carolyn and I were raised up on the shoulders of my groomsman, and everybody in that place sang their heart out… to both the Italian and English choruses!” says Danny.
