Despite the efforts of Hurricane Irma, Miami is bouncing back and open for business. With nonstop flights clocking in at just under three hours, Miami is the perfect solution for Philadelphians who just don’t want to let go of summer. Grab your girls or your boys and check out these spots, courtesy of our friends at Yelp.
Located on Ocean Drive in the heart of South Beach, The Betsy offers relaxing vibes mixed with a little rock and roll flair (the walls are currently adorned with portraits of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones). From the doormen to the housekeepers, service is the top priority. Rooms are classic, beachy, and comfortable. Take your pick between loungers on the beach, the glamorous rooftop pool, or the courtyard pool, reminiscent of a Mediterranean oasis.
Hungry? You won’t have to go far to get some of the best food in Miami Beach. LT Steak and Seafood, located inside The Betsy, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus a little taste of home: La Colombe coffee. For lunch, the tuna tartare and crispy black grouper tacos offer deliciously bright flavors that won’t weigh you down.
Push past the velvet curtain in a fortune teller’s parlor to enter the Miami iteration of Employees Only (the original is in NYC’s West Village). If you only go for one, make it the ginger smash: pineapple, ginger root, rum, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lime. We say, don’t only go for one.
Whether you choose to sit on the garden patio or in the funky upstairs lounge, you are bound to have an unforgettable night at Broken Shaker at Freehand Miami. The music is bumpin’, the cocktails are delicious, and the people are beautiful.
Come Sunday morning, get your tired, hungover crew together, put on some sunglasses, and head to brunch at Cecconi’s in the Soho Beach House. Cocktails are spendy but delicious, and the brunch spread is loaded with classic breakfast options and Italian-focused dishes alike. Before you know it, you’ll be feeling good and ready to get the party started again!
