As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, Wayne W. Grafton understands that true influence is about leadership and an unwavering commitment to preserving what matters most. For him, leading North America’s largest and oldest outdoor multi-breed horse show isn’t just about managing an event—it’s about safeguarding a legacy that spans generations while raising money for the beneficiary, Bryn Mawr Hospital. “Devon is a living tradition, woven into the fabric of our community,” Grafton says.

His love for the equestrian world began with the quiet elegance of horse-drawn carriages, a passion that led him through various leadership roles in Philadelphia’s equestrian circles. Whether guiding the Philadelphia Four-in-Hand Club or Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show, Grafton’s path has always been about one thing: honoring the timeless beauty of the sport. “Coaching sparked something in me,” he says. “The history, the craftsmanship, the connection between horse and whip—all part of what makes this world so special.”

What fuels Grafton most is the sense of unity Devon creates. “Watching families—sometimes three or four generations—come together at Devon is what keeps me going,” he shares. “It’s a reminder that what we do here matters far beyond the competition ring.”

As Devon looks toward its 2025 event, from May 21 to June 1, Grafton is excited to see the show continue to evolve, with improvements to the grounds, a renewed commitment to fostering the community, and building exciting sponsorship opportunities. “Embracing tradition while adapting to evolving needs is crucial in achieving long-term success,” he shares.
