The Cherry Blossom Festival’s main event is held at Fairmount Park.
Nothing says springtime in Philadelphia quite like rows of delicate pink flowers and crowds of people itching to be outdoors for the city’s Cherry Blossom Festival. This year, according to assistant director of the Japan American Society Aaron Dilliplane, guests can expect the return of many popular events. “There are two film screenings planned, a host of workshops and demos at Liberty Place, some fun sushi-oriented events, and Tamagawa Taiko is coming back, as is the J-MUSIC Ensemble.” Above all, Dilliplane says, his favorite part of the festival is the Tamagawa University Taiko Drum and Dance group. “They bring so much energy and excitement,” he says. “It’s a jaw-dropping performance every year.” April 11–17
