The professional highlight of 2024 for Drs. Jason Bloom and Julie Shtraks was the opening of the Surgical Arts Center, the very first fully accredited ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in the greater Philadelphia area that caters specifically to aesthetic surgery patients. Their mission was to create a seamless, high-end surgical experience for aesthetic patients every step way, from pre-operative screening, to the operation, and ultimately through recovery. Seeing it come to fruition has been simply incredible and they are now inviting other surgeons who perform elective surgery to operate there as well.
Located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the Surgical Arts Center is a 4000 square-foot facility with a beautiful and comfortable reception area, two state-of-the-art operating suites and convenient patient parking. The center is equipped with the most advanced surgical technology, creating a unique cosmetic center of excellence.
The Surgical Arts Center is different from other ambulatory surgery centers in the State of Pennsylvania and it is a unique ASC for multiple reasons.
First, it is the only local surgery center that was specifically created for patients seeking elective surgery. No insurance cases will be performed there, which enables the center to focus solely on providing the best care for aesthetic patients who wish to be discreet and not have procedures performed in a larger hospital setting by inconsistent personnel. Second, the staff is comprised of registered nurses, physician assistants and scrub technicians that are exclusively dedicated to and knowledgeable about all of aesthetic procedures that are preformed there. They were hand picked because of their specific plastic surgery experience and personally selected with the mission to provide safe, quality, and specialized care with excellent customer service. This aesthetic expertise facilitates consistency between cases and knowledge of the procedures.
Third, the center utilizes a private, hand-picked anesthesia group comprised of only board-certified anesthesiologists, who provide state of the art the care in the operating room and post-op unit. Any level of anesthesia and sedation that a surgeon requires is available.
The Surgical Arts Center was established by aesthetic plastic surgeons for use by aesthetic plastic surgeons. Our hope is that our local plastic surgery colleagues in the greater Philadelphia area will utilize the center for their patients that are seeking this high-end, seamless, high quality and private surgical space.
