William Kacergis and Marlena Daecher met in Philadelphia, so they chose to celebrate their nuptials where their love story began. William Kacergis and Marlena Daecher
WILLIAM (BILL) KACERGIS, A U.S. NAVY OFFICER, was stationed in Hawaii for his Naval service when he suggested a hike to his girlfriend Marlena Daecher—to take videos with a new drone they had just bought. The groom set up the drone to circle around them, capturing the mountain and ocean view, while also capturing his surprise proposal at the top of one of the peaks. “It was so special because it was private but perfectly captured in one of our most favorite spots on the island,” says Marlena, who met Bill three years prior during a night out in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia became the obvious choice for the couple to tie the knot a year and a half later—where they celebrated with 110 of their loved ones at the American Swedish Historical Museum. A touching rendition of “Ave Maria” was performed by Bill’s brother and sister before the guests enjoyed a cocktail hour featuring a tomahawk steak station with coffee-rubbed ribeye on the bone. The dance floor was packed all night long before the night ended sweetly with coconut cake and a gelato cart with eight house-churned flavors, scooped into mini Mason jars.
